Avatar: Fire and Ash: Windtrader Navigator

This concept design was done to help establish the visual identity of the Windtrader Navigator. We explored concepts of tactile sensory tools, such as the delicate, wind-catching streamers attached to his fingers, to define the character’s unique look and deep connection to the elements.

A key focus with the Navigator was his physical, touch-based approach to wayfinding, showing how he reads the complex air currents of Pandora. His heavily embroidered cape serves as a tactile, generational map of the wind currents, weather patterns and landscapes, while his pipe, carved in the shape of the giant Medisoid, pays homage to the colossal creatures that carry the nomadic Windtrader caravans through the sky.
